The Epistle to the Moon or the Lunar Flag Epistle is a pseudepigraphic document regarding Vexillomantic practice sent to the Moon.
Text
Semajophoron, a mover of the Flags, both seen and unseen, made of the Flag
even as the Flags are made, through which this is written to you in love.
To all the hippies of The Moon who know the Flags: May your Flags remain
in motion and fly without faltering.
I give thanks for you all, for although young, this burn is wise in the Flags,
and your vexillomantic abundance is felt and respected by all who burn with
the spirit of the Flags. I thank you for receiving the Flags and for receiving
the one who delivers this message on my behalf.
But to the issue at hand, my friends, I have heard that some among you have
reject the red Flags given to you by a servant of the Flags and claimed that
only yellow Flags are the true Flags. And this much is true for as we know
the yellow Flag is greater than the orange Flag which is greater than the
red Flag, all of which are greater than the purple Flag, which is the anti Flag.
But we also know that a Flag is not determined by its cloth. For are we
to say that one Flag is more yellow than another? By no means! For the
yellowness of a Flag is not determined merely by color of its fabric but by
its movements also.
Then of what benefit is yellow fabric? Much indeed but only if the Flag still
moves in accordance to the lay lines. For if a red Flag (I am speaking in terms
of the cloth) moves along the same lines as a yellow Flag then who are we
to say “but this is not a yellow Flag”.
And at the same time I have heard some of you foolishly say “the yellow Flags
have been supplanted by the red Flag I have created,” without understanding
that the Flags you have made are in fact yellow. Friends, I urge you, when
you move a good Flag, do not be deceived by some dye within the fabric, but
instead say to yourself “this is a yellow Flag indeed!” For we know that all
yellow Flags are good and all good Flags are yellow.
Likewise do not be fooled by the makers of false Flags which may on the
surface appear to be yellow Flags, but rather test the color of the Flag in
movement, for no Flag that has not been moved can be known, and no Flag
that has been known cannot be moved.
Now concerning the error of the hubris of the Flag creator, not only of the
red but of each kind, even myself for I am not free of guilt in this matter,
understand this, each Flag has been created by a Flag maker, and each Flag is
in turn a Flag maker as more Flags are made, both explicit and implicit. And
so then each Flag moves in all directions. It moves laterally, in the creation
of more Flags which can be seen. And superiorly, as we know that it moves
in mutual coordination with the multifaceted Flags which we call the crystals.
And even inferiorly, moving Flags which cannot be seen but which influence
the Flags aside from the crystals. And this is not the limit of the movement
of the Flag, for as it is written:
I moved a Flag and found myself moved
I made a Flag and found that I had been made a Flag
Before me is a field of Flags waving without end
And after me the Flags ascend like embers
Therefore I urge you to pick up your Flag and move it along the lines which
have been laid for you.
